Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday that the city will add 70 new electric vehicles to the city�s fleet and launched a new effort to educate New Yorkers about the benefits of using electric cars.
The city already has the country's largest of municipal clean-air fleet, but now that position has been fortified to a total of 430 electric vehicles.
�This is the latest and largest-ever addition of electric vehicles to the city�s fleet, which is already the largest municipal clean-air vehicle fleet in the nation,� said Bloomberg. �We will continue to lead by example, but we also must provide New Yorkers with tools to make environmentally friendly choices in their own lives.�
